NASA Rover breaks "marathon record"

The NASA rover Opportunity has broke the record for distance traveled by a rover, as it has officially traveled 26 miles on the surface of mars, which is the exact length of a Marathon. What makes this feat impressive, is that Opportunity, has been on this pace since 2004, meaning it is NASA's longest operational rover. The previous record holder was the soviet moon rover, Lunokhod-2, which had traveled about 25 miles and had held the record since 1973.
Before it set the record for distance, Opportunity had provided evidence of a presence of water on Mars shortly after it began traveling Mars's surface in 2004, which begs one to wonder what Opportunity and future rovers will provide us with.

Microsoft Co-Founder finds lost Battleship with help of Unmanned Sub

Last week, Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen found the Musashi, a Japanese battleship that sunk in the Sibuyan sea in 1944 during the battle of the same name. What makes this find so groundbreaking is the fact that the Musashi was, at the time, belonged to the Yamato class of battleship, which was home to the largest battleships in operation (862 ft 10 in with displacement of 74,000 tons). The Yamato class was also armed with 45 centimeter (18.1 inch) guns, the largest of any naval gun in history.
Unmanned Subs are typically used in deep sea exploration in order to ensure the safety of its operators, as manned subs typically cannot reach the same depths and withstand the same amount of pressure that unmanned subs can. Such tech has been used to find wrecks of other famous ships, such as the Titanic, the  Lusitania and the German Battleship, Bismarck. Allen has been releasing images of the Musashi on his twitter account (which can also be seen below), and is also going to be streaming a tour of the wreck on youtube later today.

Lenovo Slipped Adware on Laptops

Lenovo has responded to complaints about 'Superfish', a program that was present on their products and had been apparently feeding users ads while spying on their activity. The program also left holes in the overall security of the affected computers, which put owners at risk for potential viruses and spyware that they normally would not have gotten. As someone who uses Lenovo products daily, this worried me slightly, as I wondered if any of my important information, such as my saving account, could have been compromised. Fortunately for those of us who use their products, Lenovo has removed Superfish from their servers and according to sources, this action has removed the program from any product that it was present on, allowing us all to breath easy. Personally the fact that such a program was present on their products raises some questions as to why such a program was present and likely alienated some consumers.
